Did I ever tell you how much I love fruit? No? Well, I love fruit. {Although, I’m pretty certain I’ve professed my love of it on here before.} Not only is it Nature’s Candy, it’s Cherie’s Dessert. I have it for something sweet at the end of my meal {to satisfy my sweet tooth} and I manage to sneak in some vitamins that way, too. I never thought I’d get to a point in my life where I could have just some fruit for dessert and be satisfied with that, but I have! I also use it as a midday snack at work to give me some “pick-me-up” energy. Much better than those 5-hour-energize-me drinks!
So, color me excited when my Twitter buddy Xiomara asked if I’d like to review some fruit on my blog. Umm, YES, please!
A couple weeks ago {I’m totally behind in posting!}, I received a 1/2 bushel of oranges and grapefruits from Parkesdale Farm Market. Or shall I say, my hubby received it, as he was home when it was delivered. I came home and he’s like, “Umm, you got a whole bunch of fruit from somebody.” I knew it was the fruit Xiomara sent and was crazy excited to dig in!

These were the grapefruits. Holey moley…so BIG!!!

And these were the oranges. So cozy-looking, all nestled there. Couldn’t wait to snack!!
I didn’t wait very long–my first taste test was with the grapefruit.
I sliced one up to take with me to work the next morning for an afternoon snack. The smell was amazing. The color was bright pink. And the juice–so much juice!! When I was finally able to bite into a piece around 3pm that day, I was one happy lady. They weren’t sour, or tart, just total pink grapefruit perfection. My boss could hear me eating from her office and was like, “WHAT are you eating, Cherie?! So much slurping and sucking. I hope it’s enjoying you as much as you’re enjoying it.” {Haha, we speak very frankly to each other.} Anyhow, it was great!
I always hear about “Florida oranges” so I was hoping these would not disappoint. Yaaaay, they didn’t–they were equally as tasty!! They were sweet, but not too sweet, juicy, and had a great hue. I had them with breakfast, for snacks, dessert and I’m thinking of a way to incorporate them into a dinner with chicken. I only have a few left so I’ll be sure to find a recipe soon!

I can’t forget to mention that they make an amazing glass of juice. Especially the grapefruit. Look at the amount hubby squeezed out of one for me! I’m started to feel a little touch of some kind of cold coming on last week {noooooo!!!}, and I was so very thankful to have some straight up, fresh, squeezed directly from the fruit, juice! No added sugars, preservatives, concentrate, or fillers. Couldn’t beat it!
I love reviewing products but I must say this was one of my favorites. I love good, simple, fresh food!
Xiomara was kind enough to pass along a discount code to me for all of you to use if you’d like to order something from Parkesdale! Write “Cherie” in the comments when you place your order and receive free shipping! It will discount when the credit card is processed.
I was compensated in no other way than in receiving the fruit for review. All opinions are honest and my own.

This just made my mouth water! I am pregnant and my craving has been grapefruit. But the grapefruits we get here in Connecticut don’t look nearly that delicious! Drooling.
