Run, Cherie. Run.

Quoting Marilyn Monroe, I said it before and I’ll no doubt say it again, but “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.” Doggone it if that ain’t true.

I know I pre-gushed about them yesterday, but I can certifiably gush today–I am in love with these shoes.

I must give them partial credit; the other I will give to myself. Yesterday, I ran longer than I EVER have.

I ran 5 miles.  A personal best.

This is friggin’ HUGE for me. I just couldn’t stop. Didn’t feel like stopping. No pain at all. I was like Forrest Gump.

Now you wouldn’t believe me if I told you, but I could run like the wind blows. From that day on, if I was going somewhere, I was running!” —Forrest Gump

This clip says it all for me. I wasn’t the Forrest running across America with all of those joiners running behind him. No–not yet. Instead, I was the young Forrest, just beginning his journey–realizing that he really could run, when he had to. Legs getting stronger, not failing him when he needed them the most, outrunning the bullies chasing from behind. Breaking free of the restraints that had been holding him back. And once he realized he could, he did, and he just kept going.

On that 5 miler, I was doing the same.

I must make it a point to continue the same mentality in my life. <– In my next post, I’ll pick up here.
But for now…on to something tasty!

I was super healthy with my meals yesterday. Yay for clean eating! Anyhoo, while on Pinterest, I saw the most delicious recipe for Roasted Broccoli with Smashed Garlic.

I swear it turned out just like the picture from the link above. Pretty much.

Baked chicken and roasted broccoli. This was darn good. Annnnd didn’t negate my running work. Win win. 😀

How about you…any personal bests lately?

Hump Day Happiness.

Today’s my day off! Holla! I love a nice random day in the middle of the week to take a break from the daily grind {though I’d gladly be working today so that I could have Saturday off, but I digress}.

Depending on what time you read this on Wednesday, I will be:

* Working out
* Working on my business
* Working out and working on my business {I’ll think about it as I’m running :-)}

Those are my main concerns as I have this whole Me Day at home to take care of bidness!

I will definitely be getting the workout done first. This is Week 4 of my 5K training plan and yesterday’s run didn’t go as planned. I was supposed to do an easy run of two miles @15:18 but I was in crazy pain. Not my tibia/shin for once, but my knee! I never have knee issues…I hope this isn’t something new that will be sticking around! I basically ran for two minutes, walked for 5 and then had to call it a day with the treadmill. But I didn’t give up. This is Roaring March & I’ve got the Jerkworker Mantra in my mind, afterall!

Even though I spent the day unpacking and shelving these at work on Monday:

I still cranked out a formal weights workout since I couldn’t run. I had to do something! Also remember, sh*t is getting real!! There was no giving up or calling it a day until I was done.

So later on this morning, I’m going to attempt that run again. I’m crazy stoked for it. Not just because I love to run, but also because my Nike Pegasus +28’s have finally arrived!!!

They are seriously beautiful! I made them pose again…

But we all know looks alone do not make a running shoe. Good thing these puppies are amazingly comfortable, too! I wore them all around the house last night once I tore them out of the box. The true test, of course, will be the run today, but for now I can’t talk enough about the cozy fit and support. This is my very first pair of Nike Pegs, but so far, I’m a believer!

And I do believe I’ll wear the Nike Tempos with the same bold berry/orange trim.

It’s okay that I’ll be at home and no one will see. I still like to be all matchy-matchy just for me!

Time to go git-r-done. 😀

Did you ever have a workout that didn’t go as scheduled? How did you make it up to yourself?
